Watching House :-P

I'm watching House :) Oh yes, that's right. Cuddy's going to talk to Cameron in this episode about her and Chase....heh. Hmm...wonder why the ducklings are talking to House en masse.... LOL Cuddy finally found out about Cameron and Chase :-P Well, wasnt that a loaded look House shot Cuddy (and the one Cuddy shot House) And I wonder if this is where Cameron is going to talk to Cuddy? YEP! Cuddy wants to get pregnant again I think . . .yep...and House sees it too. Chase obviously likes Cameron more than Cameron likes Chase. Okay, the patient has some new issues. I cant imagine that situation Emma's in.

CUDDY...IDIOT! And now she's crashing and here comes Wilson. Cuddy better hope Emma doesnt have any family or close friends that would want to sue the hospital. Cuddy's channeling House. Cuddy is definitely an idiot and she definitely isn't objective.

Hmm...House in on the surgery - haven't seen that in awhile. Okay, that's a little strange...the hand taking House's finger - definitely not a tadpole anymore! Come on House! Fix it!

UH OH! Mom dying....Oh My...how in the world does Cuddy keep getting so lucky? And now House is calling it a baby...This is more than a little funny. What a thing to say House!

Okay, please please please. . . end the thing between Chase and Cameron. Is Cuddy paying for House's vacation? And of course, he tears up the tickets.

My one major comment for this episode was the utter lack of Wilson. I really like the byplay between Wilson and the others.

OOOO Next week looks good!

It's really so funny....

It's so funny how people think it's hot at under 80 degrees. Granted, we're very warm for March...but still. How are people going to deal when it's July and 90? *shakes head*

Things on my mind...

There are several things on my mind and I want to get some of them out...so I'm going to put them here :-P

  1. I'm actually looking forward to writing my last Civil War paper
  2. I'm ready for Spring Break
  3. Reign Over Me is a really good movie
  4. I want to write, but I don't know what to write about
  5. I had an interesting dream last night...a little strange
  6. Tomorrow we have our first shot at severe weather for the year
  7. I can't decide if my meds are working well enough or not
1. My last Civil War paper actually looks like it will be interesting to write. The last time I was looking forward to writing a paper for a class was this time last year when I had to write one for my class on the American Presidency. That paper was supposed to be 10 pages minimum and it ended up 13 pages I think in the end. I also ended up with an 89% on it, my highest grade on a paper in college :-P This particular paper now also promises to be interesting. "In an essay of no more than 1500 words, explain and contrast the coverage of an important issue or event in any two North American newspapers from the same week during any year between 1848 and 1867. Your newspapers may be from the same place or from different places." I had initially thought to do the Dred Scott decision, but in the end I think I'm going to do the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. I'm also planning to pick one newspaper from the North and one from the South as I think that will give me a more interesting look. Of course, this paper means I'll end up spending some considerable time at the State Historical Society building over spring break (that's where the newspapers on microfilm are)

2. Even though I have nothing due this week and no tests either, I'm ready for Spring Break. I'm definitely ready for a week of no classes.

3. I went and saw Reign Over Me (the new Adam Sandler/Don Cheadle movie) last night with my parents. It's a fantastic movie, funny and heartbreaking at the same time. It also has a fantastic cast - Adam Sandler, Don Cheadle, Jada Pinkett Smith, Liv Tyler, and Donald Sutherland even has a bit part. Fair warning though...it's rated R for a reason - the language is terrible at times. If you can deal with that, you'll love the movie. Oh, and if you're thinking about not seeing it because it's an Adam Sandler movie, go see it anyway. I'm not really an Adam Sandler fan, but I loved him in this movie.

4. I want to write something...fanfiction, an original story, a song, a poem...anything. But I'm not sure what to write. I do have one fanfiction idea rattling around in my head, but I think it needs to simmer some more in my head first I think (I'm that way for a lot of things...a lot of things need to develop and simmer in my head before they can come out well in reality).

5. I had an interesting dream last night. I don't remember all of it, but I do remember some of it. That's unusual in and of itself because I usually dont remember any of the dreams themselves. Most times I just know that I dreamed but dont remember what the dreams were. I dreamed that I was up for three MTV Movie Awards. I also remember that just a few days before the awards I didn't have a date and no one to go with me, so I called my friend Allison (who lives in New Zealand) and asked her to come with me. I remember talking to her dad on the phone since she was unavailable at the time. For some reason I also remember walking around downtown Madison on campus, and then the next minute walking around a really nice hotel that couldn't possibly be located anywhere near Madison. I haven't actually "spoken" with Allison or anyone in her family since...let me think...it must have been December of 1993. Prior to last May, I hadn't even communicated with Allison since we were 11 or 12. *Shrugs* It was just strange all around.

6. Tomorrow we have our first shot at severe weather for the year. They say an isolated tornado isn't out of the question. It's a little early yet in the year for any nasty spring storms. However, it's the right temperature for our usual spring storms. Where I live, we're right on the edge between a slight chance for nasty severe weather and a moderate chance for nasty severe weather. This time of year, it's still likely we'll get some storms and rain out of the deal. For some reason though, I associate the worst storms around here with mid to late summer and then the very early part of fall. In mid to late summer we get the nasty pop up storms that can be VERY nasty, but they aren't the type to redevelop once they move through and it's very hit or miss as to whether you actually get anything out of the deal. Our worst spring storms come when you get warm temps like now and then a cold front moves through that drastically changes the temperature. However, that's not the case this time...there's a front moving through, but it's going to stay relatively warm still. Apparently it's going to stay warm all week and give us a shot at thunderstorms all week too.

7. I have an appointment with my pdoc over spring break to look at how my meds are working. I'm having mixed feeling as to how effective it really is. I definitely know it's working because I can tell when I've forgotten to put the patch on in the morning. However, I'm constantly comparing my meds to how well the adderall was working before the side effects got me. The adderall really helped me concentrate and realize when I was getting distracted. But the side effects got me and that was that. Gah!

So that's what's on my mind today. I also decided I was doing absolutely no studying today. Of course that means I'll have to study tomorrow but I'll deal.

Blah

I've been in such a funk the last few days. I'm back to feeling like I did in high school. For whatever reason, the whole boyfriend issue is driving me crazy again. It's not like a boyfriend would do me a lot of good right now. I'm graduating in December and I have no plans of staying around here and a long-distance relationship isn't something I want to try for my first boyfriend. However, logic doesn't seem to be working well right now. It's a very good thing that I don't have anything serious due til after Spring Break because I'm the next thing to useless right now when it comes to my schoolwork. Truth be told, I'm back to feeling some of the same things I was feeling before I started seeing the counselor - more of the feeling of just going through the motions. *sigh* It's something I'm going to end up talking to Irene about come our session over spring break. I know I'll need to talk about it, but it means I'll end up crying again.

On another note, I'm very much ready for my brother to leave for Florida with his girlfriend and her family. I may end up going to see the new Adam Sandler movie with my parents on Friday night. It's one I really want to see and surprisingly enough so does my dad at least. I'll enjoy the time to myself in the mornings. It will also be a preview of next semester...

Also, of course my carpal tunnel has flared up and is pissing me off. It flared up back on the 11th (a Sunday). I think I slept on my wrists wrong or they were just protesting being curled, but I've had issues since then. At least this time they're not tingling. That's the worst.

*Idiot Badgers*

I'll post later in the week on the subject again (basically my thoughts on the season). I won't do it today since I'm in too much of a funk. Any comments I make today would be less than complimentary. So yes, I'm definitely in a funk right now. I'm also not watching any more March Madness this year and I'm abandoning all the brackets I submitted (I had the Badgers winning it all). If you're reading this and scratching your head...go to any major sports website (espn and the like) and look at the score of the Wisconsin-UNLV basketball game.

*VERY BIG GRIN*

They did it! They came back from 18 points down to win :) Badgers will play UNLV on Sunday :) GO BADGERS!

COME ON BADGERS!

Come on idiot badgers! They're a 15 seed....you really shouldn't be losing by 14 points! COME ON!

Scheduling...

I just looked, and the course timetable for the fall comes out on March 19th. As I'm a senior and I have lots of credits, I'll more than likely end up registering on April 10th. As of right now, I have absolutely no idea what I want to take. As it'll be my last semester, I definitely don't want to go crazy and kill myself with homework. Of course, I thought I was doing that this semester, taking only 12 credits...only to end up with 14 cuz two of the classes were mis-listed as 3 credits instead of the actual 4 they are. And, of course, the idiot I am signed up for 4 humanities classes. However, I can't see myself really taking anything other than humanities classes. There really aren't any classes that interest me that don't fall into the humanities division. Hmm...

Monday, March 12, 2007

It would seem I'm going to be up awhile. . .

The idiot I am, I forgot to take the patch off between 7 and 8 and thus allowing me to go to bed between 10 and 11. Instead, I didn't remember until about 10:15. As it falls into the stimulant category, it's a med that has the capability to keep me up at night if it's still in my system. I didn't take it off til 10:15. You do the math. Well, looks like my homework is going to be done tonight, instead of tomorrow morning.

ARRRGGGHHHH!

I hate having carpal tunnel! It reared its ugly head again this weekend. I woke up Sunday morning with my left wrist bothering me. It got bad enough that I got out the brace after church on Sunday. I had hoped that wearing it yesterday would negate needing it today. However, I didn't get that lucky. It was bad again today so I have the brace on again today. I'm sitting in lecture now, learning to type again while wearing the brace. Of course, typing on my laptop with the brace is not exactly easy. I would love to be able to wear the brace and not have to type tonight, but I have a paper on the History of American business to write tonight. In theory, I could write it out by hand tonight and type it up in the morning, but that's an option I'd rather not consider.

Tomorrow I have a midterm and a paper due, but after that, things slow down :) It means that Thursday morning I'll be able to paint some more of the wooden items I bought at Michael's last week. I like painting the wooden objects - it's easy, fun, and more than a little relaxing as I can listen to an audiobook and paint and generally not have to think.

I'm ready for my brother to leave for his trip to Florida. He's headed to Florida with his girlfriend over her spring break (his spring break is the following week). They're gone for I think 10 days, but I don't know that for sure. I *think* they leave on a Friday and get back on a Sunday. It will be a peek into what next semester will be like as it'll just be me and my parents around the house. It's hard to believe that I have just one more full semester left and then I graduate. Oh, and never graduate in December, at least not at Wisconsin! I graduate like the 16th or so and then have finals the next week! Gah!

Hmm...maybe I should give my wrist a rest and stop typing . . .

Im watching the movie Stick It, and its towards the end and I'm just laughing my butt off :-P

Updates...

I realized I never updated just how much snow we ended up with after my last post. From Friday night about 6PM to Sunday about 6PM, we ended up with about 17 inches of snow. By the time the storm finally moved completely out late Monday, we had 20 inches of new snow on the ground. Late the following week, we had some issues with freezing rain and rain and a little snow, but nothing serious. Starting this weekend it's going to warm up enough to really do away with this snow. We're talking mid 50's by next Monday and Tuesday!

In other news, the Big 10 Tourney starts tomorrow, with my Badgers playing on Friday night. I'm hoping Michigan State lays an egg tomorrow, but it's not likely - and that means my Badgers will get a third crack at Michigan State. It occurred to me yesterday that to win a national championship at the college level, or even in the pros for that matter, you don't have to be the most talented team. You just have to want it the most. Now, I don't know if my Badgers want it the most, but they do want it a lot. We'll just have to see if that's enough.

For post #100 (and I didn't realize it would be 100 til I logged in and got ready to post), I thought I'd talk about the weather...we're under a BLIZZARD warning for tonight starting at 6PM through noon tomorrow. Aside from the 8 inches of snow we got last night (up from the 2-3 inches they were predicting at 6PM yesterday), we're due for another 7-14 inches overnight tonight along with nasty winds. During the 6PM news yesterday, the local stations were all saying 1-5 inches of snow overnight last night, with just 1-2 in the city, with more the further north you got from the city. About 9:45 the National Weather service changed the area snow advisory for the evening to a winter storm WARNING for the evening (along with the snow prediction going from 1-5 to 6-9!), with our winter storm watch for tonight still in effect. Woke up this morning to 8 new inches of snow on the ground and a blizzard warning for tonight and tomorrow morning. Last night's snow was the fluffy stuff, so it's blowing everywhere. Supposedly tonight's snow is going to be heavy and wet and thus won't blow everywhere...however I'm not so sure. Last night was supposed to heavy and wet and well, it wasn't. As late as Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning, this was all going to be rain....yeah, not going to happen.

I've made a decision

I've decided to sit back and enjoy the ride. The loss @ Michigan State on Tuesday night doesn't really change my opinion of the Badgers. They're a great team this year and have the potential to be a special team (read: Win it all). I'm going to stop worrying about seeding and winning the Big Ten and am just going to enjoy it. While a loss on Sunday would be disappointing, any loss by your favorite team is disappointing. It's been a fun season so far and it ain't over yet!

I really should have known better . . .

Honestly, I should have known better than to take four Humanities classes in one semester. Five weeks or so into the semester and I'm drowning in reading and homework. I'd love to be able to not read some of it and do well, but it's all relevant and important. Three of the four classes are actually really interesting, but I'm still drowning in homework. The four classes I have are:

  • PS 417 - The American Judicial System: one of the interesting classes, but a fair amount of work, especially now with an exam on Monday, Oral Arguments on the 5th, only to be followed by starting on the 5-7 page term paper
  • Hist 247 - History of American Business: Another of the interesting classes. I've studied American politics and American history and now I'm looking at how business fits into that picture throughout the history of America.
  • Hist 333 - The Renaissance: This is the less interesting class. The professor makes up an outline for lecture, and then completely doesn't follow it. There is no structure to her lectures and that means I inherently get less out of them. The book she assigned for the class is actually really interesting, but lecture sucks. Thankfully, my only grades are exams where she gives us the possible questions in advance
  • Hist 393 - The Civil War Era, 1848-1877: This is the most interesting of my classes and the most work. The professor is really good and so are the readings he has assigned. There are a lot of assignments that are meant to make sure we're reading, but the assignments add to our understanding of the period, rather than just checking to see if we're reading.

Unfortunately, Im going to spend a majority of this weekend studying, plus I have a lesson to prepare for Primary. Gah! At least it'll be a good weekend to stay inside, with the weather being warm enough to rain, but just cold enough that it could sleet if it wanted to.

*grumbles*

Idiot badgers....

It's halftime...

It's halftime at the UW-MSU (Wisconsin - Michigan State) game and I definitely agree with the pundits - both teams need to find some defense. My Badgers need to find the answer to Neitzel and quick. It's nice to see, however, the Badgers getting MSU into foul trouble early. That's a hallmark of the Badgers this year and it's nice to see it continue. Now, whether Wisconsin's ability to make the 3 this half is due to Michigan State's apparent lack of D this half, or if it's a continuation of the current trend, I dont know. I do, however, like it! And of course, Tucker's doing his thing again :) You know, I watch Tucker play and I watch Oden play and I have to wonder why Oden's being included in POY talk. Nevermind the fact that Oden didn't play at the beginning of the season and is just recently truly playing well. In my mind, a POY needs to have/do the following things:
  • Leadership
  • Great numbers in relation to his team's numbers (in other words, compare Durant's numbers in relation to his team's numbers with Tucker's numbers in relation to his team's numbers.)
  • Makes his teammates want to be better, just because he's on the team
  • Has the magical 'it' quality
  • Recognizes the adage "There's no 'I' in team", then follows it

Okay, here we go...second half time. GO BADGERS!

Irrational ranting/raving

Okay, come on Badgers! Let's beat Michigan State! :)

As an aside, I suppose ranting/raving is irrational, but still...

They may not win pretty....

My Badgers may not always win pretty...but they keep winning. :)

Frustrated

I'm really frustrated at the moment. Got yet another med from the doc today and went to drop it off at the pharmacy only to find that they don't have it right now and would have to order it. As a result, it wouldn't be here until Wednesday. So I went to Walgreens to try and get it filled there, except I dont have a new insurance card (my HMO changed the patient numbers the first of the year, making the new insurance card a must right now). Finally, because of how the gvt classifies my med, the prescription has to be dropped off and picked up (if it's available) today. So right now I'm waiting for one of the parents to get home and give me their insurance card so I can go to Walgreens and cross my fingers they have the med in stock. GRRRR

House ff is dangerous!

Over the last week, I've seriously gotten into House fanfiction and it's VERY addicting! It's more addicting than West Wing, JAG, or even Harry Potter. In case anyone's interested, I'm starting a fanfiction recommendations blog. The first post should happen sometime tomorrow afternoon. It will have House, JAG, West Wing, and Harry Potter fanfiction recommendations. Initially it will just be my recommendations, but the possibility exists that I might accept recommendations from others eventually.

Wednesday, February 07, 2007

Argh!

Idiot Badgers! I don't care if this game is on that road, the Badgers should be beating up on Penn State. They definitely shouldn't be tied with Penn State, nor should this be a close game. Penn State is a bottom feeder for a reason and the Badgers need to dominate them like the #4 team they are.

I can already tell Im going to do some booing tonight

It's not even ten minutes after seven and I'm already booing the officials. GO BADGERS!

Just had to squee

I just had to squee over Danny and Jordan *SQUEEEEEE*

Sunday, February 04, 2007

*Sigh*

Rex Grossman is going to be publicly eviscerated in tomorrow morning's papers. On some level I guess it's warranted, but he doesn't deserve all the criticism he's going to get between the end of tonight's game and the beginning of next season. Oh well, when the game's over I'm going to go back to reading House/Cameron fanfiction...actually, I might do that right now instead of watch the Bears continue to fall apart. And here, I thought the game was going to go well after the kickoff return by Hester and then the wonderful work of the defense early on...and then the wheels fell off.

The Devil Wears Prada

I'm watching The Devil Wears Prada and I'm not impressed. I don't care how high up someone is, that doesn't give anyone the right to tear someone else down. In my mind, viciousness is never acceptable. Aside from that, I'd work at a Burger King before I worked somewhere that didn't accept me for who I was. But *shrugs* that's me. If I have to be less than who I am, then that's not where I want to work. And I gotta say, I dont think Andrea looks any better once Nigel dresses her up. In fact, I think she looks worse. Too bad she doesn't look like a real human being anymore.

Wednesday, January 31, 2007

*sigh* Is it too much to ask for semi-even officiating?

With 8.6 seconds to go, my Badgers are down by 4 points. They're going to lose and generally speaking I'd be disappointed but okay. However, the officiating wasnt close to even. Seriously, if you're going to call travelling on the Badgers (and I have my doubts on some of those calls), you've got to call them on Indiana too. I don't care where the game's being played. If it's called on the Badgers, it's gotta be called on Indiana too and tonight it wasn't - and that was the difference in the game.

Monday, January 15, 2007

Gah

I hate it when I can't remember if I've taken my medication. I've got antibiotics at the moment for a sinus infection and I can't remember if I took tonight's dose. I remember getting them out of the bottle, but I dont remember taking them...gah!

I've gotten into House

For whatever reason, I've gotten into House. And now, Im watching the first ep where Cameron has come back - and I'm laughing hard at the interplay regarding Cameron and the date with House. *grins*
