For post #100 (and I didn't realize it would be 100 til I logged in and got ready to post), I thought I'd talk about the weather...we're under a BLIZZARD warning for tonight starting at 6PM through noon tomorrow. Aside from the 8 inches of snow we got last night (up from the 2-3 inches they were predicting at 6PM yesterday), we're due for another 7-14 inches overnight tonight along with nasty winds. During the 6PM news yesterday, the local stations were all saying 1-5 inches of snow overnight last night, with just 1-2 in the city, with more the further north you got from the city. About 9:45 the National Weather service changed the area snow advisory for the evening to a winter storm WARNING for the evening (along with the snow prediction going from 1-5 to 6-9!), with our winter storm watch for tonight still in effect. Woke up this morning to 8 new inches of snow on the ground and a blizzard warning for tonight and tomorrow morning. Last night's snow was the fluffy stuff, so it's blowing everywhere. Supposedly tonight's snow is going to be heavy and wet and thus won't blow everywhere...however I'm not so sure. Last night was supposed to heavy and wet and well, it wasn't. As late as Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning, this was all going to be rain....yeah, not going to happen.

I've made a decision

I've decided to sit back and enjoy the ride. The loss @ Michigan State on Tuesday night doesn't really change my opinion of the Badgers. They're a great team this year and have the potential to be a special team (read: Win it all). I'm going to stop worrying about seeding and winning the Big Ten and am just going to enjoy it. While a loss on Sunday would be disappointing, any loss by your favorite team is disappointing. It's been a fun season so far and it ain't over yet!

I really should have known better . . .

Honestly, I should have known better than to take four Humanities classes in one semester. Five weeks or so into the semester and I'm drowning in reading and homework. I'd love to be able to not read some of it and do well, but it's all relevant and important. Three of the four classes are actually really interesting, but I'm still drowning in homework. The four classes I have are:

  • PS 417 - The American Judicial System: one of the interesting classes, but a fair amount of work, especially now with an exam on Monday, Oral Arguments on the 5th, only to be followed by starting on the 5-7 page term paper
  • Hist 247 - History of American Business: Another of the interesting classes. I've studied American politics and American history and now I'm looking at how business fits into that picture throughout the history of America.
  • Hist 333 - The Renaissance: This is the less interesting class. The professor makes up an outline for lecture, and then completely doesn't follow it. There is no structure to her lectures and that means I inherently get less out of them. The book she assigned for the class is actually really interesting, but lecture sucks. Thankfully, my only grades are exams where she gives us the possible questions in advance
  • Hist 393 - The Civil War Era, 1848-1877: This is the most interesting of my classes and the most work. The professor is really good and so are the readings he has assigned. There are a lot of assignments that are meant to make sure we're reading, but the assignments add to our understanding of the period, rather than just checking to see if we're reading.

Unfortunately, Im going to spend a majority of this weekend studying, plus I have a lesson to prepare for Primary. Gah! At least it'll be a good weekend to stay inside, with the weather being warm enough to rain, but just cold enough that it could sleet if it wanted to.

*grumbles*

Idiot badgers....

It's halftime...

It's halftime at the UW-MSU (Wisconsin - Michigan State) game and I definitely agree with the pundits - both teams need to find some defense. My Badgers need to find the answer to Neitzel and quick. It's nice to see, however, the Badgers getting MSU into foul trouble early. That's a hallmark of the Badgers this year and it's nice to see it continue. Now, whether Wisconsin's ability to make the 3 this half is due to Michigan State's apparent lack of D this half, or if it's a continuation of the current trend, I dont know. I do, however, like it! And of course, Tucker's doing his thing again :) You know, I watch Tucker play and I watch Oden play and I have to wonder why Oden's being included in POY talk. Nevermind the fact that Oden didn't play at the beginning of the season and is just recently truly playing well. In my mind, a POY needs to have/do the following things:
  • Leadership
  • Great numbers in relation to his team's numbers (in other words, compare Durant's numbers in relation to his team's numbers with Tucker's numbers in relation to his team's numbers.)
  • Makes his teammates want to be better, just because he's on the team
  • Has the magical 'it' quality
  • Recognizes the adage "There's no 'I' in team", then follows it

Okay, here we go...second half time. GO BADGERS!

Irrational ranting/raving

Okay, come on Badgers! Let's beat Michigan State! :)

As an aside, I suppose ranting/raving is irrational, but still...

They may not win pretty....

My Badgers may not always win pretty...but they keep winning. :)

Frustrated

I'm really frustrated at the moment. Got yet another med from the doc today and went to drop it off at the pharmacy only to find that they don't have it right now and would have to order it. As a result, it wouldn't be here until Wednesday. So I went to Walgreens to try and get it filled there, except I dont have a new insurance card (my HMO changed the patient numbers the first of the year, making the new insurance card a must right now). Finally, because of how the gvt classifies my med, the prescription has to be dropped off and picked up (if it's available) today. So right now I'm waiting for one of the parents to get home and give me their insurance card so I can go to Walgreens and cross my fingers they have the med in stock. GRRRR

House ff is dangerous!

Over the last week, I've seriously gotten into House fanfiction and it's VERY addicting! It's more addicting than West Wing, JAG, or even Harry Potter. In case anyone's interested, I'm starting a fanfiction recommendations blog. The first post should happen sometime tomorrow afternoon. It will have House, JAG, West Wing, and Harry Potter fanfiction recommendations. Initially it will just be my recommendations, but the possibility exists that I might accept recommendations from others eventually.

Argh!

Idiot Badgers! I don't care if this game is on that road, the Badgers should be beating up on Penn State. They definitely shouldn't be tied with Penn State, nor should this be a close game. Penn State is a bottom feeder for a reason and the Badgers need to dominate them like the #4 team they are.

I can already tell Im going to do some booing tonight

It's not even ten minutes after seven and I'm already booing the officials. GO BADGERS!

*Sigh*

Rex Grossman is going to be publicly eviscerated in tomorrow morning's papers. On some level I guess it's warranted, but he doesn't deserve all the criticism he's going to get between the end of tonight's game and the beginning of next season. Oh well, when the game's over I'm going to go back to reading House/Cameron fanfiction...actually, I might do that right now instead of watch the Bears continue to fall apart. And here, I thought the game was going to go well after the kickoff return by Hester and then the wonderful work of the defense early on...and then the wheels fell off.

The Devil Wears Prada

I'm watching The Devil Wears Prada and I'm not impressed. I don't care how high up someone is, that doesn't give anyone the right to tear someone else down. In my mind, viciousness is never acceptable. Aside from that, I'd work at a Burger King before I worked somewhere that didn't accept me for who I was. But *shrugs* that's me. If I have to be less than who I am, then that's not where I want to work. And I gotta say, I dont think Andrea looks any better once Nigel dresses her up. In fact, I think she looks worse. Too bad she doesn't look like a real human being anymore.
