Naive professors

I've always found it a little naive (or perhaps they simply don't care, which I find even more idiotic) of professors to set a crapload of reading at the end of the semester. With everything else that goes on at the end of the semester from papers to projects to studying for finals, professors have to know that reading is going to fall through the cracks. If it's a choice between doing reading and getting a paper done, the paper's going to win. Now, if the professor simply doesn't care, then I'm not sure they should be teaching.
